Role overview

The Driver Onboarding Specialist is responsible for ensuring new drivers and movers are successfully onboarded, activated, and ready to complete their first jobs quickly and confidently. This role focuses on onboarding experience, documentation, training, and early driver success—reducing time-to-first-job while maintaining quality and compliance standards.

This role reports to Driver Operations or Supply Operations leadership and partners closely with Driver Acquisition, Support, and QA teams.

Key Responsibilities

Driver Onboarding & Activation

  • Manage the end-to-end onboarding process from approved applicant to first completed job.
  • Guide drivers through documentation, background checks, training, and app setup.
  • Ensure drivers clearly understand expectations, policies, and service standards.

Quality & Compliance

  • Verify driver documentation and onboarding requirements for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure onboarding processes meet safety, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Partner with QA and Ops to address onboarding-related issues or risks.

Experience & Conversion Optimization

  • Identify friction points in the onboarding journey and implement improvements.
  • Reduce time-to-first-job and early drop-off rates.
  • Improve clarity, communication, and driver confidence during onboarding.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Driver Acquisition to improve funnel handoffs.
  • Partner with Support to resolve onboarding questions and escalations.
  • Collaborate with Product to improve onboarding tools and flows.

Tracking & Reporting

  • Track onboarding metrics including completion rates, time-to-activation, and early performance.
  • Share insights and recommendations with stakeholders.
  • Support experimentation and process improvements.

Qualifications

Required

  • 2–5+ years of experience in onboarding, operations, support, or training roles.
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
  • High attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple applicants and tasks simultaneously.
  • Comfort working with operational metrics and tools.

Preferred

  • Experience in marketplaces, logistics, or gig economy platforms.
  • Experience onboarding contractors or frontline workers.
  • Familiarity with compliance or verification workflows.
